Injector Failure
Is it time you have your injectors serviced ??
Here we have an injector nozzle failure in a tractor. The engine had about 3000 hours on it and was in good mechanical order.
A typical cause of this type of failure are blocked holes in the injector nozzles. When the holes block up with carbon the hydraulic pressure builds up excessively and eventually shatters the nozzle, causing the broken pieces to fall onto the piston.
Because there is no room for anything but air in a diesel engine, the damage is severe. Servicing the injectors every 2000 hours would have prevented this costly failure and saved a lot of downtime. The engine had to be stripped down to be repaired.
